What started as a loose and fun Jamband sound in their beginning years after forming in 2015, Good Trees River Band has recently evolved into a heavier, psychedelic sound with socially-critical lyrics and nods to classic Southern Rock. With members scattered across New England and Florida, the band is often on extensive road tours, where their live performances showcase their ever-broadening stylistic landscape. In the studio, GTRB brings in a wide spectrum of ideas and sounds while collaborating with well-renowned producers and musicians with their own distinct sounds, including Dan Horne of Circles Around the Sun, Jim Loughlin of moe. and Ben McLeod of All Them Witches. Each GTRB album is in a world of its own, and the band’s grassroots gusto has bolstered their growing popularity heading into their second decade.

The debut full-length instrumental release from Good Trees River Band, Russian Dragon is also the first song to be composed entirely by drummer Evan Valentine. Featuring vibraphone and additional percussion tracks from Jim Loughlin from the band moe., the song builds gradually through a series of danceable groove-based movements. After abruptly arriving at an all-out percussion standoff, the tune begins to boil over with eruptive guitar leads for the last minute. “To say we are excited to have Jim [Loughlin] play on the song would be an understatement.”

Good Trees River Band’s upcoming album, Blowin’ Smoke, will be available on October 17, 2025.
